The Christmas of December 2012, was the first year that I didn’t spend it in Mexico, this was really strange for me, since I am used to celebrating for many days these special holidays with the “posadas”, big family reunions, lot’s of christmas gifts exchanges with friends, etc. In Luxembourg I have to say that it is very different, even if it is nice to have snow, christmas markets, hot wine and other things, when it comes to party, people and family, it is not the same thing. Baking cookies

Some cookie recipies I found, here in Europe is really common to bake them during christmas time:

Christmas Butter Cookies

1 cup Softened butter
2 tablespoons Vanilla Extract
3 cups flour
2/3 cups Sugar
2 Eggs
1/2 teaspoons Salt

Cream the softened butter with the sugar until fluffy and light. Stir in vanilla extract. Add in eggs, one at a time, beating mixture after each egg addition. Add the flour and salt, mixing well. Wrap in plastic wrap and let chill in refrigerator 3 hours or overnight. On a sparsely floured pastry cloth, using a floured rolling pin, roll dough to 1/8 inch thick. Cut with cookie cutter into Christmas shapes. Place each about 1 inch apart on baking sheet. Bake for 10 mintues at 350 degrees F. Allow to cool complete before decorating. Recipe makes about 4-5 dozen cookies.

White Christmas Cookies

1/2 cups Butter
1/2 cups Shortening
2 cups Sugar
4 Eggs; beaten
4 cups Flour; sifted
1/8 tsp Ground nutmeg
1/8 tsp Ground cinnamon

Cream shortening and butter together. Add sugar, mixing until fluffy and light. Beat in the eggs. In separate bowl, sift flour, cinnamon and nutmeg together, stir into creamed mixture. Dough will be quite stiff. Chill in a plastic wrap covered bowl in refrigerator 3 hours, or preferrably overnight. Roll the dough thinly on a floured pastry cloth with a well floured rolling pin or between two pieces of plastic wrap. Cut into star or other shapes with favorite cookie cutters. Place 1 to 2 inches apart on to greased or oiled cookie sheets. Bake in 350 F degree oven for 10-11 minutes, til crisp. Should be straw colored when done. Gently remove from pan to allow to cool completely on wire racks.

Thinking of business

Opening a new business in Luxembourg is not easy the more I learn about star ups in luxembourg the more impossible I see this and the more afraid I get, but i still ahve some hope, here I share some ideas about business I would like to start, I am open to your comments:

Body scanning is a new technology that can scan the body of a person in a 3D image and convert it in a digital form, so the people can try some different clothes and sizes on their virtual body without having to move.

No won days, there is a need of saving time in Shopping new clothes, as well as being able to have the specific size needed in order to find the perfect clothes for our bodies.

Virtual closet organizer

Web platform that gives people advices of how to use their clothes more efficiently as well as tips of which clothes suites them the best.

Some things this program will allow users to do are the following

•Suggestion of type of clothes that suit you depending on the body

•Calendar with daily combinations

•Organized online closet were you can choose easily what to wear

•Comparison of prices

•Suggestions of what to buy

•Link to your favorite online stores

•Ability to see your friends closets

•Wishing list (from stores or friends closets)

•Weekly tips on image and health

Talking e-cards

Greeting cards made in an electronic way, in a website you will be able to create the greeting cards with the images and colors you want and a record a message with the microphone of your own computer. Afterwards we will produce this e-card and add a voice device and send it to the person you desire in paper.

Recipie-Supermarket order website

This website will allow you to upload all the ingredients you have on your refrigerator and mach them with possible recipies you can make. It also allows you to do the opposite select some recipies and it will tell you which ingredients you need to buy, giving you a shopping list and the option to shop online.

August – Painting month

Hello friends, so this month I had not a lot of activities to do, since my husband is working all day in Luxembourg city, and i am currently living in Wiltz, located in the north of the country, I had to invent a new activity that will keep me occupied all day to survive being in the house LOL.

So everything started one day when i was helping my mother in law (mutti) to make the weekly grocery shopping, we went to ALDI which its a really cheap store here in Europe and you find sometimes really cheap objects, so today was the case, we saw the were selling the materials for painting, everything was 5 Euro, so I thought… Mmm I dontk know how to paint, but maybe i should but it and take some painting courses, and there I was buying 10 painting kits, having the ilusion to take painting classes and become a painter.

After some days of investigasting the prrices of the painting lessons, I found out that they were really expensive, like 1 day 100 Euros so I decided just to paint without classes and here is the result.
